Margaret Douglas descended from James IV of Scots.  Below is the listing of the line that produced Lady Margaret Douglas.

James IV Stewart, King of Scotland was born on 17 March 1472/73.^1,5 He was the son of James III Stewart, King of Scotland and Margaret Oldenburg, Princess of Denmark.⁴ He married Lady Margaret Tudor, daughter of Henry VII Tudor, King of England and Elizabeth Plantagenet, on 8 August 1503 at Holyrood Abbey, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹ He died on 9 September 1513 at age 40 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, England, killed in action.⁶
James IV Stewart, King of Scotland also went by the nick-name of James 'of the Iron Belt'.⁷ He gained the title of Earl of Carrick on 17 March 1473.¹ He gained the title of Lord of Cunningham on 17 March 1473.¹ He gained the title of Duke of Rothesay on 17 March 1473.¹ He succeeded to the title of King James IV of Scotland on 11 June 1488.¹ He was crowned King of Scotland on 26 June 1488 at Scone Abbey, Scone, Perthshire, Scotland.¹ He and Janet Kennedy were associated circa 1499.⁸ He and Isabella Stewart were associated before 1511.⁹ He fought in the Battle of Flodden on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, England.⁶

Catherine Stewart was born illegitimately.² She was the daughter of James IV Stewart, King of Scotland and Marion Boyd.² She married James Douglas, 3rd Earl of Morton, son of John Douglas, 2nd Earl of Morton and Janet Crichton. She died after 1554.¹

Lady Margaret Douglas was born circa 1510. She was the daughter of James Douglas, 3rd Earl of Morton and Catherine Stewart. She married James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran, son of James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Arran and Janet Bethune, before 23 September 1532.² She died after 24 May 1579.³
From before 23 September 1532, her married name became Hamilton. As a result of her marriage, Lady Margaret Douglas was styled as Countess of Arran before 23 September 1532.
